Macellaio RC Soho—or any restaurant in this chain—is not the obvious place to take children. And yet we did, and had a great time. We arrived at about 2pm on a Saturday after a diverted bus left us nearby, hungry. The restaurant was half empty and we were given a table at the back, with our pushchair stashed close by.
Despite the fancy atmosphere, we felt completely at ease. There is no children’s menu, but ours shared our steaks and loved the chips and macaroni cheese. The food was excellent and the staff were wonderful with the children—even when our fifteen-month-old started flirting with one of the waitresses.
There was ample room to enter with the pushchair and we were given a large table out of the way. Be warned that they call themselves ‘the butchery with tables’ and there are large pieces of meat hanging around the restaurant.
If you miss going to a fancy restaurant but cannot leave the children, go off peak and treat yourself to one of the best steaks in London.
