Macellaio RC Soho, or any of the restaurants in this chain, are not the place you'd think of taking the kids. And yet we did and we had a great time. We went on a Saturday but at a time that would probably qualify as off peak. We were dropped in front of it serendipitously by a diverted bus that terminated early due to a gas leak in central London that had caused our trip to take various detours. It was 2pm and we were hungry. I had always wanted to try it, but never though of going with the kids. We walked in and the restaurant was half empty. We were given a table at the back and our pushchair was stashed in the disabled toilets that were right next to us. Despite the fancy atmosphere, we felt absolutely at ease. There is no kids menu, but the kids had some of our steaks and really enjoyed the chips and mac and cheese. The quality of the food was amazing, the staff were all great with us and the kids, even when our 15 months old Benny started flirting with one of the waitresses. The restaurant is on the expensive side but good value for money considering the quality of the food. There is plenty of space inside to walk in with the pushchair and we were given a large table out of the way. Be warn they call themselves 'the butchery with tables' and they kind of stay true to their name: if your kid is easily impressed, there are large chunks

of meat hanging around the restaurant.
If you miss going to a fancy restaurant, but cannot leave the kids, go off peak at Macellaio RC and treat yourself to one of the best steaks in London!
