Flat Iron does not specifically cater for children: there is no children’s menu and the main menu is entirely steak. The sides are not especially child-oriented either. So why a rating of four? Because if you fancy a good steak with children in tow, this is the place.
We went to the Waterloo branch when it opened at noon and had specified two adults, two children and a pushchair. We were given a spacious table by the window and a high chair. Our four-year-old loved the mug of popcorn presented immediately.
We ordered a well-done Flat Iron steak and chips for the children. It arrived sliced and was still very tender. The soft drinks were also a hit. At the end, the children received a small cup of vanilla soft serve, and we were given tokens for more free ice cream.
The staff were friendly with us and the children, the food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed and the price more than fair for the quality.
